LIFESTYLE
They have a kids play area bang in the middle of the shopping fiesta. Complete with child safe toys like a rocking horse, building blocks and what looks like a choo-choo train. So while your better half manages the little one, you can shop in peace. Fancy folders, dramatic dustbins, aromatherapy packs, curious candles, slick mugs, unending rows of footwear (yes, they have the Kittens range too), perfumes, cosmetics, attire and what-you-name-it. Must frequent.

GAZALI
All that wallet activity makes you hungry. Wanna sink your teeth into limy, grilled pomfret? Head for Gazali, of Vile Parle sea food fame. Gobble fried squid, relish tiger prawns and tuck in neer dosa with fish gassi here. Ask them to go easy on the spices if you have a sensitive palate. Succulent fare make Gazali a hot favourite. The place bustles with waiting customers on weekends and is packed with the ad and media crowd on weekdays. Go ahead and taste the marina.

SPHAGETTI KITCHEN
From the Blue Foods house of culinary centres comes this latest offering. Brilliant pastas, tossed up Italian style. Quiet, cosy with pleasing interiors. Comfort seating. The place is a cross between Noodle Bar and Bombay Blue. Ideal for a date and a relaxing chat.

FOOD STALLS
No time to sit in and order grub? Grab a Frankie, stuffed dosa, tangy papri chat or crisp nachos at the wheeler stalls fringing the parking lot. Or lick an ice cream without frequenting Mc Donalds next door. Clean packaging. Polite service. Short on time. High on taste. If you’re lucky, you might even get corn-on-the-cob with melting butter splattered on. Ideal fare during the monsoon.

NATURALS
Kalajamun or thandai ice cream anyone? You heard it right. Make way for seasonal fruits fellas. Natural works best. Cherries, lichis, mangoes… Take your pick and dig in. This is one cool spot you need to fit into your itinerary. (This article was published in Femina Buyology in 2005)
