The unorganised nature of this industry coupled with the lack of recognition by the Governmnet of India compounds the constrictions. What is the texture of the cases she takes on? "Mainly industrial, related to abduction, blackmail, counterfeit products, murders and the like. It leaves me more satisfied as opposed to solving a marital issue (where adultery is the common occurrence) and my investigations inevitably lead to a broken home.

It's not a great feeling at the end of the day, though it's my job to unearth the truth. I also take on due diligence in matrimonial matters but I do not find it equally challenging. " So according to her what maketh a seasoned investigator? "Be tough, fearless and self confident. If you feel scared, are smug and underestimate your opponent, you'r e dead. Everything happens suddenly, so you must be able to think on your feet. Of course, a stroke of good luck always counts."

For all female aspirants, hesitant to join the battalion of private eyes, Usha has a message,"You must come forward and give the profession your best. Mumbai, by far, is the safest city to live and work in. Though private investigators work hand in glove with the police sometimes, on the basis of one incident it is not fair to tar the entire police force and be deterred from pursuing your dream." And what do her future plans entail? "I want to help in mobilising some sort of recognition for our work. There must be some initiation in the Parliament to recognise our industry. It's high time the country did."
