Actor Aparshakti Khurana exudes charisma as he
basks in the success of his films: Stree 2, Stree, Pati Patni aur
Woh, Dangal…The man with the golden voice carries a dynamic
persona – playing the witty, charming compere at all leading
film awards, dipping swiftly and fluently into anecdotes, and
multiple languages as he wows the audiences, both on screen and
at live events across the globe.
Excertps from an exclusive conversation:
How has the journey been so far?
Brilliant. I feel blessed and am
grateful for all the opportunities I
have received in my career. From
being a practising lawyer with the
High Court in Delhi to releasing
my own songs to playing a variety
of roles on screen, it has been a
great journey in Bollywood.
Something that few know of your
career.
I bring to the screen a prolific
background in theatre. My first
film was Saat Uchakkey. Dangal
followed soon and won me
applause. Since then, there has
been no looking back.
What has theatre taught you?
Theatre conditioned me
completely into being confident
and at ease on stage. I am myself
when I am on stage. My presence
of mind arrives in a natural rhythm
for me.
You have an amazing sense of
comic timing.
(laughs) I possess the tempo and
the attitude to carry off a comic act
with finesse. My wife levels me
when she points out that the credit
for a successful comic act doesn’t
come to me alone – someone else
scripted the lines for me to deliver
at the end of the day
